Prom season is upon us … girls are struggling to choose what dress to wear, what make up to buy, what hairstyle to do, what jewelry to wear, and what bank account to use. Prom comes with many expenses and a whole lot of planning. The night isn’t what it seems to be at first, it comes with a lot of expenses and stress. Girls are probably thinking, “What if my hair appointment gets canceled, my spray tan is orange, my hair fails, my makeup looks bad…” There are many factors that come with making the night perfect. Prom carries a lot of pressure to meet a lot of unrealistic expectations that are created on Tik Tok, Instagram, and Snapchat. Every single photo matters, everyone wants the perfect lighting and Instagram post. All the small details about the night matter… your shoes, your hair, your dress, your dates outfit, your spray tan, your pictures, and your nails. For girls, prom is not just one night, it requires serious preparation and many expenses that lead to an amazing night.
Prom preparation is no joke to many people. Taking the journalist perspective, I purchased my prom dress 4 months in advance to the date of prom. Many girls go dress shopping super early on and it creates a little bit of a competition. Most dress stores only offer your prom dress to one individual at your school. So, if you want the perfect dress, it is highly encouraged to purchase it early on. Picking and choosing what color, style, and brand dress you want is a super hard decision as they all come at different expenses and qualities. Prom season can be a lot of fun for girls as it gives them the opportunity to dress up. The sparkly dresses light up the room, and everyone is all glammed up. Every single girl has a different dress, and compliments just keep flooding the room.
Every ounce of preparation matters and really feeds into creating the perfect night. Most of the time, the night always ends perfectly because everyone gets to spend the night with their friends and get all glammed up. Prom is truly a special time for many girls in high school, and it is a genuine experience like no other. Even though social media can create unreasonable standards for the “perfect” night at prom, everyone always has fun at prom because it is a time to come together with your peers and dance the night away. So, hopefully everyone wears their comfortable dancing shoes to the perfect night.
After the dance, everyone can finally relax and reflect on the super fun night on the dance floor. People can also give their wallets a break…
