On Friday May 2nd, 2025, Lincoln-Way Central held its annual Social event. Social is held the night before Prom and is an event only Lincoln-Way Central students may attend. This year it was held at Zachary’s Barn off of Cedar Road and went from 7-9:30 P.M. Before entering Social, each student was given three tickets to “purchase” food with, this year the three available food places were Raising Canes, The Creamery, and a pretzel truck.

Students were able to ride a mechanical bull, play on a knockout inflatable with friends, jump on pillows, or just dance and hang out. A tradition Central students have is dressing up in costumes with friends at Social. This year some of the many costumes were frat boys, Disney Princesses, condiments, prisoners, fruits, sports players, etc.
Unfortunately, this year’s Social did not have the best weather; the temperature pretty much remained in the 50s-60s and half-way through the event, it started to rain. Regardless of the not-so-great weather, the night was super fun and was a great way to kick off prom weekend.
The following day at Lincoln-Way Central hosted Prom at The Odyssey Country Club. The event went from 6:00-10:00 P.M. (A Little PSA to future Prom attendees, the only road that leads to an entrance of the Odyssey is Ridgeland, Harlem leads to a dead end).
Once at Prom everyone is able to pick what table they would like to sit at, it is open seating. However, seats are picked off quickly, so I would recommend getting to Prom early or on time to ensure that you can sit with all of your friends at one table (tables allow up to 10 people). Dinner is served roughly around 7:00 o’clock, and it was buffet style. They had a little of everything such as salads, pasta, rice, potatoes, and an assortment of meats. The food was very good, many people even went for seconds. I personally recommend the mostaccioli. At the end of each food table was a dessert table filled to the brim. And every time a dessert plate was emptied, a server would immediately replace it with a new type of dessert to choose from. My personal favorites were lemon squares, strawberry pudding, and macaroons. Along with having a buffet style meal, there were two stands where students could get free pops and kiddie cocktails.
The DJ at Prom was phenomenal, they played a good mix of genres so that everyone could hear something that they enjoyed. And for all of the couples out there, two slow songs were played throughout the night. At about 9:00 0’clock, all the students gathered together outside to watch the firework show that the school put on for us. The fireworks lasted for about eight minutes and before going inside, all of the students joined together in singing the Lincoln-Way Central fight song.
All in all, Prom was a fantastic night, and I hope that all future junior and senior students attend because it truly is a night to remember.
