On Tuesday, March 11th, Lincoln-Way Central showed off the talented knights and their singing capabilities at the annual March choir concert. The concert kicked off at 7:00 p.m. with the Mixed Choir singing many historically significant songs, such as “The Cuckoo,” a medieval English song celebrating the arrival of summer, and “Pastime With Good Company,” a hymn composed by King Henry VIII.
Next, the Chamber Singers choir took the stage, gracefully singing songs such as “Heilig,” which was performed in German, and “Wade in the Water,” a song used by many on the Underground Railroad, including Harriet Tubman, to tell runaway slaves to walk through water so dogs could not follow their scent.
The concert then shifted to some more modern tunes, with The Treblemakers preforming popular hits, such as: “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel, “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Ellish, and “Good Luck, Babe” by Chappell Roan. During the Treblemakers’ performance, one could even hear the crowd members singing along.
Finally, the Singing Knights choir sang some throwbacks, performing hits like “Rocket Man” by Elton John, and “Great Balls of Fire” by Jerry Lee Lewis. Chorale followed, playing songs such as “Yver, vous n’estes un villain” by Claude Debussy, which was performed in French, showing the immense talent of the choir. The concert finished with a final performance from the Combined Choir, singing the song, “Connected” by Brian Tate.
The concert, directed by Mr. Bultman, received a thunderous ovation, and was a wonderful event to start off the spring.
