It’s the holiday season, which means it’s prime shopping season. This year, the senior class council came up with the brand-new Knightly Relics shop. In the shop, you can find several items from t-shirts, letterman jackets, lanyards, and even football jerseys. The relic shop gets most of its inventory from coaches and teachers around the school who have extra items from activities. One of the best parts of the relic shop are the amazing prices for cool Knight attire. The prices range from a dollar to as high as forty dollars for select items. What makes the relic shop unique is the limited number of items – most items only have two or three matches, making your purchase unique. Since its opening, the relic shop has done exceptionally well; it gathers large crowds in the library on their Friday sale dates. The Knightly Relics shop in the mornings provides food from Sugar Shack and even provides free hot chocolate for students. Overall, the Knightly Relics is a welcome addition to Lincoln-Way Central, promoting knight pride and fun vibes.
The Knightly Relics shop would not exist without the help of Mrs. Pehle and the students who run the shop. I had the opportunity to interview Mrs. Pehle about her shop. When I asked her favorite part of the relic shop, Mrs. Pehle responded saying the fact that the shop was created by students, for students, as the idea for the shop came from seniors Riley Saltzman and Hailey Davia. Another question I asked Mrs. Pehle is what she is looking forward to regarding the shop in the future, which she responded by stating the new smaller items that the shop will receive such as Lincoln-Way Central stickers. I interviewed one of the founders of the shop, senior Riley Saltzman. I asked Riley how she and Hailey Davia developed the Knightly Relics. She proceeded to tell me that she and Hailey were discussing how to raise money for the senior class gift. They wanted there to be a way to reuse merchandise at a lower price. This idea then became a reality through the shop.
On behalf of the student body, I would like to thank Mrs. Pehle and the students in Senior Class Council for creating this new shop, and as a senior myself, I hope this shop will last throughout the following years for others to experience.
