When the whistle is blown and the first serve goes over the net, not only has a volleyball game begun, but a battle for pride, victory, and teamwork. LWC girls volleyball has had an amazing season! The Knights currently have a record of 17-18. After every loss or win, the team has come back even stronger. When discussing the current season and performance with Coach Mary Brown, the Knight’s varsity volleyball coach, she says “We are in an uprising. We have been playing very aggressive lately.” This displays the continuous strive and commitment the girls volleyball team demands. The girls have had many nail biter games this season and have continued to crush it on the court.
One great performance of note was that against Richards. The whole team stepped up to contribute to the win. The girls took home the “W” for a wonderful Senior Night. The team dynamic and performances have been great this season. Coach Mary Brown says that Haley Podkul has been a player that sticks out to her this past season.
A team would never be the same without support and guidance. Coach Mary Brown, Head Coach, is always a supportive coach for the girls. When discussing with Coach Mary Brown she shared her technique to help her players stay motivated throughout the season: “We read a motivational book every season.” By reading a book and taking time to be mentally prepared for close games or any game, the girls grow as a team. Coach Brown has been impressed with the team’s work ethic and performance this season. She says they are over-achievers. The team’s energy has been amazing this season and will only grow from here. The girls took on Regionals October 29th but were defeated by Yorkville High School. Even after losses, these girls continue to shine on the court. Great season, girls!
