On September 11th of 2024, the Lincoln-Way Central College Fair made its return. In our very own field house, rows upon rows of tables and representatives lined up from 132 colleges, universities, and trade schools. Upon arrival, students had the option to sign up for Strive Scan, a digital QR code which held their information. The QR codes could be scanned by college representatives to help send more information to students interested in their college. As it was the first year ever having a district-wide college fair, the evening went quite smoothly. Also included in the college fair was a presentation on how to fill out/apply for FAFSA.
As a senior at Lincoln-Way Central, I found this fair very helpful and informative. It helped answer questions I had about my plans in the future. The College Fair was extremely beneficial to any students and parents who attended, and it is widely appreciated by the community. Hopefully, this will be an annual event given how large the turnout was. I highly recommend going to at least one college fair as it can help get your questions answered in one night.
Here are some tips on how to approach a College Fair:
- Prepare questions before hand.
- Create a Strive Scan prior to your arrival.
- Investigate what colleges will be in attendance and go to colleges you’re most interested in first.
- Ask questions about scholarships, acceptance requirements, Greek/ campus life, and housing.
