Welcome back, Knights! LWC is back and better than ever for the 2024-2025 school year. The first day of school was as exciting as ever with Welcome Crew leaders at each door ready to welcome students new and old as they entered the building. LWC always does an amazing job making sure students feel welcomed and excited as they enter the new school year. In an interview, junior Erin Hadley said, “It’s hard not to walk in with a smile on your face when everyone around you is cheering and clapping.” This long-standing tradition is an excellent way to make sure everyone’s first day starts off with a smile.
This year’s First Day of School Pep Assembly featured an inspiring speech from Dr. McNamara, an exciting performance from our varsity Cheer team and an electric performance from our varsity Rhythm Knights. The Pep Assembly is always a terrific way to start off the year and makes everyone feel excited to be a part of the Knight family. Senior Ethan Toosley on the mic at the pep assemble, did an amazing job getting everyone in the school spirit and excited to support all our athletic programs this year.
One of the best parts of the beginning of the school year is seeing which friends are in your classes and getting to catch up with them about the summer. Erin Hadley said, “Getting schedules is always an extremely exciting time, I’m always really anxious to see who’s going to be in my classes but it always works out.” Most of us have memories of waiting for the mail to come so we can see our schedules and see what the new year holds. Now, we simply refresh Skyward in hopes that it will appear; either way, making sure you have friends in your classes is always a big part of back-to-school time. One of the best things about LWC is that you always have an opportunity to make new friends even if you do not know anyone in your classes. Students at LWC are some of the kindest people you will meet and are always willing to include others.
A fantastic way to make new friends is getting involved in sports and activities here at LWC. LWC offers a wide variety of clubs and sports, which means there really is something for everyone. Even if you do not find a club that fits what you are looking for, you can always start a new one. Teachers are always eager to sponsor new and exciting clubs, and it is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people with similar interests. Joining an athletic program is an amazing way to build bonds that will last a lifetime. Even if you have never done a certain sport, the coaches here at LWC are some of the best and will help you every step of the way to develop your abilities. Additionally, going to athletic events is the best way to get involved. Going to the football games, dressing up for the theme, and screaming at the top of your lungs are some of the best memories and Knight Pride is at an all-time high. Make sure to get out to the events and support Coach Napier’s reinvented Knightmares in the student section this year.
As we enter the new school year make sure you take advantage of all the opportunities given to you and remember you can always lean on your Knight Family because once a Knight always a Knight. Have an amazing year and go Knights!
