“Lights, Camera, Action!” Is what most people think of when it comes to showbiz. But what if what really happened onstage was “Lights, Camera, ABBA” instead? On the weekend of April 25 through April 27, the Lincoln-Way Central Theater program presented its performance of the hit musical Mamma Mia, featuring music by ABBA. Over 70 cast members worked together as hard as Donna Sheridan did to bring this wacky musical sensation to life for not one, not two, but THREE full houses. The fullest the auditorium has been for years!
The musical told the story of Sophie (Halle Drennan), a young woman living with her mother at the Bella Donna Hotel who is about to get married and wants to discover the identity of the father she has never known. Upon finding her mother’s diary shortly before her wedding day, she finds the names of three potential men who may have been her father and invites them all to her wedding. Harry Bright (Jonah Demik), Bill Anderson (Patrick Doorhy), and Sam Carmichael (Mike Bussean) all show up, unbeknownst to Donna (Mae Powers), their ex-lover. What happens next? Well, it turns out that the real “father” was the friends we made along the way, but rest assured that the journey was worth it.
Mamma Mia was a hit full of charm, laughs, and lots of awesome singing and dancing. Three nights of magic all thanks to the hard work of the cast and crew and the support of our amazing community of Knights! We wish the best of luck to our seniors as they move forward in their lives and to all present and future Knights who will continue their legacy.
