The men’s basketball team at Lincoln-Way Central High School kicked off their season a couple weeks ago on November 20th in a thrilling 66-50 win over Richards High School in the first round of their in-season tournament. The boys are led by Coach Wylie as the team is hoping to build on last year’s success. Big returning names include seniors- Ben McClaughlin, Will Gehrke, and Braden Meyer. Meyer speaks on the team, “We’ve got a good group of guys. Just trying to get the team going and get some more wins.”
Unfortunately, shortly after, the team fell to the highly ranked Andrew High School team in a narrow defeat 43-35. After falling into a deep whole, the Central squad is still looking to get more wins on the board as they currently have a losing record.
Central, struggling offensively this year, looked to bounce back in their first home game of the year against district rival Lincoln-Way West High School on December 12th. West came into that game at 5-4 and was able to spoil the Knights’ home opener in disastrous fashion.
However, Central did bounce back with a win on Friday, December 15th against Yorkville Christian. Hopefully, we can keep that momentum rolling and get some more wins in the near future!
