Every person here at Central definitely has a favorite teacher, yet a common fan-favorite of everyone who has ever met her is Mrs. Pehle. With her enthusiasm, tea obsession, and love for neurons, who wouldn’t love her?
Mrs. Pehle has spent all of her 21 years of teaching at Lincoln-Way Central and is an alumna, graduating in 1998. Now we all know Mrs. Pehle for her fascinating Psychology classes, but did you know she originally wanted to be a PE/Health teacher? In fact, Mrs. Pehle hated her Psych 101 class in college. According to her, “I actually HATED my Psych 101 class, which is essentially what I teach now. I was originally planning on becoming a PE/Health teacher, and I needed to take another psych class for my education major. I had an amazing professor, and I was fascinated by the subject. I took every other class that he taught and some extra ones. By the end of my sophomore year, I switched my major from PE/Health Education to Psychology Educator.”
Her psychology class offers so much, including lessons that you will be able to use when you’re older, and a heaping ton of fun. Mrs. Pehle believes everyone can benefit from taking psychology, “It doesn’t matter if you want to go to college, into the trades, in the military, etc. We all benefit from knowing more about ourselves. It’s a fun class, you can make easy connections to your life, and if you wait until you’re a senior to take psych, you’ll always have some friends in class with you!”
Not only does Mrs. Pehle teach psych, but she also has an Intramural Yoga club after school that meets every other week in the fitness center. To join, there is no need for experience, it is a great way to move, breathe, and relax. And it is not only for students but also for staff.
Mrs. Pehle is a fantastic staff member and should always be appreciated for her hard work and ever-cheerful demeanor!
