Holiday Help is a program that teachers, coaches, and students participate in every year to help families with the holidays. They help with things like meals and gifts. With the generosity of students and staff of Lincoln-Way Central, it helps about 45 families per year. Ms. Laurie Knick, a social worker here at Central has been running the program for 21 years. She says her favorite part is seeing the families’ reactions when they come to pick up their gifts or meals. Especially the parents’ reaction as most of them come in thinking the gifts are just for their kids. Ms. Knick uses different systems to find families in need in our community. One system Ms. Knick uses is asking the counselors which families might need help, as they know the kids here best. Thank you to Ms. Knick for all her years of work helping these families. After all, this is the reason for the season.
