This year’s 2022 girls’ JV tennis is really hitting it off and starting the year on teh right foot. Winning against the Sandburg Eagles 4-3 on the 8th and dominating a conference win against Andrew on the 13th, the girls have been working hard and staying positive. Practicing every day after school, their warmups include running laps, practicing their serves and volleys, and playing rounds of mini-tennis as well as rounds of doubles and singles to train for their matches. Tennis is very much a community sport and the girls are constantly collaborating whether that is in doubles matches or off the courts with their big-sister and little-sister tradition. JV tennis captain Kaley Dwyer explains the tradition stating, “The bigger sister takes care of the little sister, whatever they have questions about or if they need something for tennis or school, we take care of. We get each other little gifts for matches too.” The girls are a tight bunch as a group overall, when describing the community of tennis, freshman Addison Cross says in an interview, “All the girls are very supportive. The captains are great, and we learn lots from each other.” Its high hopes for this year’s LWC JV girls’ tennis.
