Strong pitching will help the baseball team succeed this upcoming season.

The Lincoln-Way Central baseball team is eager for the upcoming season this year. Their season starts on March 2nd, and they plan to be a threat in the playoffs. The playoffs don’t start until the end of the season, therefore, the Knights will have plenty of time to prepare. Lincoln-Way Central senior and starting pitcher Zach Ward says, “I feel that the baseball team will be good. We have a lot of talent. We just need good leadership from the players and we should make it very far.”

Many believe that the Knights baseball team will dominate this year because of the fact that they have many returning players. Some of the juniors this year are comfortable playing at the varsity level, as they were brought up from the sophomore team last year. An example of some of these juniors are: Ryan Kraft, Matt Maloney, and Mike Maloney. Many of the Knights top pitchers (including yours truly) will be continuing to play baseball at the collegiate level. Zach Ward also adds: “We have a very good pitching staff. We also have a pretty solid defense with our juniors.” In other words, it looks as if the Knights defense is very strong and capable of conquering. After all, it is said that defense wins games.
