Seniors Amanda Weyh and Ashley Platek will be taking on their senior year as softball athletes here at Lincoln-Way Central. Both student athletes have become outstanding players through hard work and dedication over the years.

Amanda and Ashley have always been on the same team for travel and high school softball.  College will be the first time the pair play apart: Amanda will be attending Lindenwood University and studying Education, and Ashley will be attending Grand Valley State University and majoring in Marketing.

According to Ashley and Amanda, one of their most memorable moments from the softball team was, “beating Lincoln-Way East two times in a row.” Amanda also stated that her other favorite memories included the fun things they did with the team and all the friendships she has made. The two students have improved through hard work and putting in time and effort to make themselves better players.

One thing Ashley said she was looking forward to for the upcoming season was, “playing with her friends.” Amanda explained that she is looking forward to having fun with everyone and just enjoying it because it is her last year. Ashley and Amanda put in extra time and work in order to get themselves ready for games or tournaments.

I asked both students what their favorite place was to eat after softball, and Ashley’s response was that she enjoyed eating at Double Yolk the most, and she mostly likes the french toast from there. Amanda elaborated by stating that she likes to try a new restaurant every time, especially when they travel somewhere. Both athletes are very hard-working and dedicated to the sport. They can’t wait to start the new season and have a good time with their teammates and coaches.
