Junior Ian Troester celebrates after a tackle against Lockport

After a 5-2 start for the knights, Lincoln-Way Central is looking at another stellar year for our football program. Currently, Central is heading to the play-offs after a win against the Sandburg Eagles and their ranking has risen steadily after notable wins against teams such as Lincoln-Way West and A.A. Stagg High School. The final 2 games of the season were against Thornton and Sandburg, teams that Central has become accustomed to beating. With the future looking bright, the play-offs are the main focus of the Knights. I had a chance to speak to starting defensive back, junior Ian Troester, and this is what he had to say:

How do you prepare for each game?
“I usually listen to music and zone in. Get rid of all distractions.”

Who’s the hype-man in the Central locker room?
“It has to be Jackson Hosman.”

How does the team prepare for the playoffs each year?
“By taking every opponent in the regular season seriously and always going hard in practice.”

How did it feel beating Lincoln-Way West this year?
“It is always a good feeling to beat a cross-town rival.”

Troester had a notable game against Lincoln-Way East, totaling two interceptions and an impressive chase-down tackle on well-known 4-star recruit, A.J. Henning. Henning has offers from teams such as Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Stanford, so it was very impressive to see Ian chase him down. After a loss at the State quarter finals last season, the Knights are as hungry as ever. All fans and students of Lincoln-Way Central are very eager to see how far the Knights go in the play-offs this season.
