Club Spotlight:

FBLA

FBLA is an afterschool club where students learn the basics of business etiquette and leadership skills that takes learning beyond the classroom. The club participates in many activities such as blood drives, business dinners, and competitions. After participating in events throughout the year, members have the opportunity to compete at the State level to show off their business knowledge and skills. If they excell at State, members can go out to Nationals held in Texas to compete with the FBLA members from around the country. Along with that, the club usually has a few guest speakers that come in to talk business with the members. The speakers are often CEOs of large companies that share their experience and knowledge. Most recently, the club was visited by the CEO of Forever U, Ryan Hesslau.  One FBLA Club member, Tyler Shipley, explains more about the club:

How many years have you been in the club? This is my first year participating.

What intrigued you to join FBLA?   I feel like it would be beneficial to my future and help me prepare for the real world.

What do you plan on doing this year in the club?  I hope to expand my business knowledge and better myself for future plans.

Do you think that you have the potential to make it to FBLA State and possibly Nationals?  Of course. I’m in it to win it.

What FBLA events do you plan on participating in?  I’m going to try to do as many as I can like formal dinner and the service opportunities because I’m dedicated to making it to FBLA State and hopefully Nationals.

What did you think about the recent motivational speaker?  It was cool to hear about his past and what he had to do to be successful. He helped me understand what it takes to be a businessman.
