Have you ever wondered what unfolds after a fatal drunk-driving accident? Well, the “Road to Reality” event that took place on Tuesday, September 12, showed you exactly that. “Road to Reality” toured students and parents through a series of powerful scenes where actors pretended to be in a drunk-driving accident. It started in the Little Theater, where a huge group of actors were pretending to be at a party where alcohol was present. Then, after all of the other scenes, the Will County coroner gave a powerful speech about how drunk driving can be avoided and his experiences with watching the aftermath. After touring all of the scenes, it was apparent a lot of work was put into this event and that it was meant to portray the message of how drunk driving is an avoidable problem. “I cry every time.” said Mrs. McNamara, one of the faculty members who helped organize this event. Not a dry eye could be found after the event had concluded. “It was so powerful. I can’t imagine what I would do if my kid were in that car,” said Christine Freiberg, one of the many parents that came to see their child perform in the event. Even though this event already happened, it is a yearly performance the week of Homecoming.  It is highly recommended by teachers and students alike and would definitely be a powerful way to educate yourself and those you love on the aftermath of drunk driving.
