Frankfort Founder’s Center Holiday Programs

The Founder’s Community Center of Frankfort Square will be hosting a number of holiday events throughout December 2016.  People of all ages are welcome to register.

The available travel programs include the Victorian Holiday Luncheon at the Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet and the downtown Chicago Christmas Lights Tour.  The Victorian Holiday Luncheon provides a tour of the Mansion and lunch in the Gathering Room accompanied by live music, a 26-foot Christmas tree, and the option to visit the Old Central Church nearby.  The registration deadline for this event is November 10, and each attendee will be charged a $68 fee.  The event will take place on Wednesday, December 14; attendees will depart from the Founders Community Center at 10:15 a.m. and return at approximately 2:45 p.m.  The Chicago Christmas Lights Tour will begin at the Planetarium Overlook, and then the group will travel along Lake Shore Drive to Lincoln Park, North Michigan Avenue, and then Millennium Park o view the city Christmas tree, the Bean, and the public skating rink for an hour before going on a Loop Tour.  One and a half hours will be left at the end of the tour for participants to visit the German Christkindlmarket at the Daley Plaza.  The tour group will also be in close proximity to the Macy’s Flagship State Street store, which will allow participants to view the window displays during the tour.  The registration deadline for this event is December 8, and a $42 fee will be charged toward each participant.  The event will begin Thursday, December 15.  The tour group will meet in the west parking lot of the Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center and depart at 3:30; the group will return at approximately 9:30.

The Village of Frankfort will also be hosting its annual Tree Lighting ceremony this year on Thursday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Breidert Green in Downtown Frankfort.  Registration is not necessary to participate.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be present at the event, and cookies and hot chocolate will also be available.
